When working to modify aggressive behavior, the approach must focus on changing a dog's emotional state first, through carefully planned low intensity exposure to the triggering event - while at the same time, pairing the experience with highly pleasant things for the dog.  Through this approach, the dog's existing negative emotional association is modified first, and as a result, the behavior changes too. These modification techniques are known as desensitization and counter classical conditioning. Click here to see video examples of the process in action!
